Army Colonel assaulted over LoC fencing project by government official. know what happened next ?

An alleged confrontation between a government official and an Army colonel during a crucial fencing project along the Line of Control (LoC) has sparked intense debate on social media. The incident, highlighted by former Army soldier Sushil Singh Sheoran on X platform, not only highlights the tension between the military and civil administration but also brings to the fore the deep bond of trust and loyalty between soldiers and their commanding officer (CO).

The centre of the incident was Colonel Ankush Choudhary of the Engineer Regiment, who was tasked with fencing along the LoC to prevent infiltration after the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The altercation started with Assistant Defence Estate Officer (ADEO) Triyam Singh in the process of clearing the board proceedings required for the project. It is alleged that Triyam Singh not only refused to grant the approval but also misbehaved with Colonel Choudhary and physically assaulted him. In response, the colonel’s Sikh soldiers immediately swung into action and came to the defence of their commander.

Sushil Singh Sheoran, in his X post, referred to this incident and made serious allegations of corruption against the Defense Estates Office (DEO). He wrote, “DEO is notorious for its corrupt practices. This office often tries to stall projects in exchange for bribes.” His statement gave rise to widespread discussion on social media, especially among military veterans, who strongly supported the soldiers’ retaliatory action.

Many people on social media justified the soldiers’ action, in which the statement of military veteran KJS Dhillon (@TinyDhillon) was particularly noteworthy. He wrote, “For a soldier, his CO holds the highest status after God. It is the duty of every soldier to protect the CO, and for this he can even give his life. Similarly, a CO also goes to every extent to protect his soldiers.” This statement underlines the unbreakable relationship between the commander and soldiers in the army.

The incident not only highlights the lack of cooperation between the military and civilian administration, but also the challenges that come with implementing projects related to national security. The matter has drawn attention on social media, raising questions about whether such incidents will affect the progress of military projects in the future. Meanwhile, the unity and loyalty between the soldiers and their commander once again proved that trust and brotherhood in the military is the basis of their strength.
